Hong Kong, China’s gateway to the world, is a city of superlatives and one of the world’s most fascinating metropolises and one of the most popular destinations for city breaks. It’s not for nothing that Hong Kong has been ranked one of the top 5 most visited cities in the world. The dynamics and growth of Hong Kong and China are also reflected in the prices. Hong Kong is now one of the most expensive cities in the world. This also applies to hotel prices. The visitor can choose from thousands of hotels of any colour. However, keep your eyes open when choosing a hotel! A very interesting and top located hotel is the Ozo Wesley Hong Kong* on Hong Kong Island, which we visited in January 2019.
Ozo Wesley Hong Kong
Ozo Wesley Hong Kong* is located directly on the busy Hennessy Road on the edge of Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island. The MTR stations Admiralty and Wan Chai can be reached on foot in approx. 8-10 minutes. Directly in front of the hotel there is a bus stop with which you can reach all important points on Hong Kong Island. There is also a tram stop about 100m away.
The entrance hall is very modern. Beside the reception there is a waiting area with iMacs and snacks and drinks can be bought.
The available rooms are distributed between 6 and 14 floors. Standard rooms, superior rooms and suites are available. On the 6 – 9 floor are the standard rooms, which are relatively small with 20qm, but correspond to the Hong Kong standard. The rooms are divided into living room and bathroom. In the living room there is a sitting area with table.
The room we lived in was on the 6th floor. It was quiet despite the location to the street. However, the room was used and only partially clean. Unfortunately this has continued also in the bath.
The room has a safe, kettle and hairdryer.
Optionally a breakfast can be booked for 19€, which is offered in a breakfast room on the 1st floor in buffet form. The guest can choose between classic egg dishes or Continental Breakfast as well as Chinese or Indian breakfast. The service is good and always endeavored. The bottom line is that the surcharge for breakfast is worth it to start the day.
Within 5 minutes there are many restaurants, bars and cafes in the Wan Chai district. For a quick beer the White Stag in the Lockhart Road or for a hamburger under Locals the Honbo is suitable. A 7Eleven Store and a dry cleaner, as well as a coffee shop are right next to the hotel or can be reached in 2 minutes.
The Ozo Wesley Hong Kong captivates by its perfect location in Wan Chai, the good traffic connections and a good price-performance ratio. But you can overlook the weaknesses in room service.
