The Llaut Palace at the Playa de Palma in a review
Away from the “Ballermann” image of the past decades towards “quality tourism”. This is the trend of the last 5 years at Playa de Palma. Visible signs are the new 4- and 5-star hotels like the Llaut Palace that have emerged on Playa de Palma, the series of chic new bars and restaurants and the simultaneous repression of institutions such as “Megapark” or “Bierkönig”. It will be interesting to see how things will continue in the coming years.
But one thing remains, Playa de Palma is one of the most popular places on the island. Easy to reach, close to the airport, close to Palma and a great sandy bay, these are the points Playa can offer. Opened in late 2016, Hotel Llaut Palace is a representative of the new generation of hotels on Playa de Palma. Modern and luxurious, it invites you to linger.
Note: From 2019, the Llaut Palace will be taken over by the Iberostar Group. Whether there will be changes (e.g. price increases) is currently unclear. The Llaut Palace was so far in the low season favorably bookable. Who knows already today his 2019er vacation dates and would like to stay overnight in the Llaut Palace, should book at short notice. The Hotel

The Llaut Palace was opened in December 2016 and is in very modern design. It was operated by the lti Group until 2018 and will be taken over by the Iberostar Group from 2019. The complex consists of 162 rooms and 18 junior suites and 6 suites spread over 6 of the 7 floors. The hotel has a spacious lobby, conference room, main restaurant, bistro, Asian à la carte restaurant Katagi Blau on the 7th floor and two bars.
Services include free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, room service, luggage storage, bicycle cellar and flower service.
The outside area of the hotel captivates by a beautifully laid out pool and garden landscape with sun terrace, sun loungers and umbrellas.
The sports and wellness facilities include a SPA area with fitness room, relaxation pool, sauna and Jacuzzi and a range of wellness treatments.
The location
The Llaut Palace is located in the 2nd row in the eastern part of Playa. Although it is very close to the Megapark and directly behind the Nova Beach Lounge, the Llaut Palace is very quiet as it is surrounded by a small park. To the beach it is about 200 meters from the beach. The distance to the city centre of Palma de Mallorca is approx. 15 km and to the airport approx. 6 km. The bus stops of the line 15 and 25 to Palma are also only about 200 meters away. ( Bus stop: 423-Llaüt / Megapark, Bus stop number: 423 )
The Rooms
The standard equipment of the rooms includes bathroom with shower/WC, high-quality toiletries, towels, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, large satellite TV, radio, free Internet access (WLAN), minibar, air conditioning, safe, double bed, laminate flooring and balcony. There are double rooms with and without sea view (from 4th floor) and junior suites.
For the Playa the rooms are very spacious and comfortably furnished. The room was clean and was thoroughly cleaned daily. However, the layout of the rooms without sea view is such that the illuminated panel of the air conditioner disturbs when sleeping. Furthermore, in the rooms above the kitchen, one has to reckon with an odour nuisance due to the exhaust air. During the stay, there were some guest complaints.
Gastronomy
The hotel has a large main restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served in buffet form. Accommodation/breakfast and half board can be booked. Both breakfast and dinner are good and rich. At several live cooking stations the guest can also get meat and fish or in the morning egg dishes. The breakfast is worth the price in any case, the dinner is ok, but there are better alternatives nearby. Despite the size of the restaurant it is quiet and you can eat relaxed.
A bistro with small dishes and snacks for lunch is also available as well as a bar on the ground floor. However, it is not worth visiting them. The room is too big and uncomfortable and the barkeepers were visibly overwhelmed during the visit in December, although the bar was only filled to a quarter.
One of the highlights of the hotel is the roof terrace with a spectacular view over the bay of Palma. There is the KATAGI Blau, an Asian á la carte restaurant with Teppanyaki showcooking, which is very popular and well visited. There are also places for guests (inside and outside) who just want to enjoy the atmosphere and the view. It is absolutely worthwhile.
Verdict
The Llaut Palace is a luxury hotel at the Playa de Palma that should be visited. Small flaws make up for the Llaut with style and ambience. How the hotel will develop under new management remains to be seen.
