Hiking through the Passerschlucht canyon – the Passerschluchten Trail

After three years of construction in the Passerschlucht, the Passerschluchtentrail opened in 2015. Between Sankt Leonhard and Moos the Passer flows wild and originally as a mountain river. This part of the gorge was previously inaccessible. However, an elaborate construction of metal bridges and stairs now overcomes the difficult points in the gorge, which stretches about 5 km up to Moos. This allows the hiker to enjoy a fantastic view of the Passer and the surrounding mountains. ( View the most popular hiking boots* / All about hiking * )

Passerschlucht – the Tour

The starting point is the sports facilities of St. Leonhard, where you can park your car comfortably. The path winds along with the Passer, following marker no. 1, to the old power station. Then it becomes much steeper and the newly created gorge trail begins. A total of about 340 meters in altitude have to be climbed over 5 km of meadows.

The walking time is about 3 hours and the bus takes you back from Moos to Sankt Leonhard. The bus leaves every hour – possible waiting times can be bridged at “Maria”, a café opposite the bus stop.

Alternatively, it is advisable to take the bus in Sankt Leonhard and start the tour in Moos.

The TFL conclusion

The Passerschluchtenweg is a beautiful and easy hiking trail that guarantees a breathtaking panorama of the river and the surrounding mountains. It is perfect for families and children.
